The design is design-registered by Beirholms Væverier A/S
Dijon is a modern rustic design with a minimalist all-over pattern that can be readily incorporated into classic, traditional and modern interiors alike. The design is directionally neutral, which makes setting the table quick and efficient.
We have managed to integrate the selvedge as part of the design. This produces a harmonious effect and completes the finished look of exclusive table linen. Dijon is a yarn-dyed range with a mixture of white and coloured yarns. As well as producing an attractive appearance, this results in very high visual colour fastness, where the restaurant can easily set the tables without sorting.
The Dijon range is market-fit table linen with a wide area of application among the laundry’s customers due to its design and the colours of the range. The range also excels by being operational-fit, as this table linen has been developed for industrial processing, which makes it highly efficient in the laundering process operation with low WECO (Water, Electricity, Chemicals, Oil/Energy) figures.
Dijon is a 50/50% Polyester/Cotton fabric, woven from the ground-breaking BeirTex® yarns, where it has been technologically possible to spin most of the cotton fibres on the outside of a polyester core ensuring that the “feel-good” sensation of cotton preferred by end-users is as convincing as in cotton products. At the same time, the laundry saves on overheads, as the new product is less susceptible to pilling, retains its shape better and thus lasts longer.
We use BCI (Better Cotton Initiative) cotton in our BeirTex® yarns, so the product you get is far more sustainable and ethically produced.
Cotton cultivation is the most polluting form of farming on this planet. BCI cotton gives you the assurance of cultivation under better conditions and with long-term economic, environmental and social benefits, both for the people whose living conditions are dependent on cotton farming and for the environment in which the cotton is cultivated.
BCI cotton is produced by farmers who:
• Minimise the use of pesticides and insecticides
• Use water efficiently and take account of the availability of water
• Take account of the health of the soil
• Conserve natural habitats
• Take account of and retain the quality of the fibres
• Promote decent working conditions
We have chosen to use BCI cotton in all our BeirTex® products, so we are able to deliver the same price level as for conventional cotton.
Moreover, BeirTex® bed linen and table linen are manufactured in compliance with the strict requirements of the EU Ecolabel. The EU Ecolabel ensures that only fibres produced in the most eco-friendly way are used. There are strict requirements regulating all chemicals used in the production process. There are requirements concerning waste water from dye-works, and there are requirements regulating the quality of the finished product.
A crucial factor for us in selecting this labelling is that textiles labelled with the EU Ecolabel do not need to be 100% cotton products, as 100% cotton textiles obviously require disproportionately more water, chemicals and energy in the laundries, which directly counteracts the sustainable choice in our industry from the point of view of overall environmental economy.
Products bearing the EU Ecolabel label are manufactured subject to:
• Minimised use of substances harmful to the environment
• Strict requirements to safeguard against the use of chemicals that are hazardous to health
• Strict requirements to safeguard against harmful emissions and discharges of waste water
• Strict health and safety requirements in the production process
• High standards for the textile fibres and the characteristics of the finished product
We have also chosen to produce all our BeirTex® products with the EU Ecolabel, so we are able to deliver at the same price level as for conventional manufacturing, into the bargain.
BeirTex® products with BCI cotton and EU Ecolabel certification are ground-breaking textiles that are sure to change many people’s idea of the use of polyester in table linen. This fabric offers a hitherto unparalleled combination of three top benefits: Maximum comfort, the lowest processing costs and a high level of sustainability.
